I Did My Own Boudoir Shoot!
As a boudoir photographer myself a lot of clients during their session used to ask me if I had ever done anything like a boudoir photoshoot before, and my answer was always no.
.
I often used to go home and think.
Hmm… maybe doing my own boudoir photoshoot session wouldn’t be a bad idea. It would come with so many benefits towards my boudoir sessions I offer out to other women.
.
And so I did it.
I am someone who HATES to be barely clothed. If you know me, you know that I am ALWAYS cold. No matter the weather or how many layers I have on.
So being naked is honestly my worst nightmare.
No I wasn’t happy with my body size, or shape. I was worried about my flaws and imperfections.. But I still did it.
To say I was proud of myself was an understatement.
I did 2 separate photo sessions, one with my amazing friend Caitlin who kindly offered to take the photos for me. And another on my own with my tripod.
Both were equally as scary as each other but here is what I learned from this experience and how I applied it to my sessions now!
Lets begin talking about the nerves, as this is a huge aspect that every. Single. Woman experiences when they step into a boudoir studio or hotel.
Was I nervous? YES. Even though I had Caitlin photographing for me I still had those nerves. Being half naked and posing in front of a friend… how EMBARRASSING!
But no. Luckily I had Caitlin throughout telling me how beautiful and sexy I looked which really encouraged me to carry on and not instantly put my clothes back on.
I have always complimented my clients when they are doing their session to keep them in the zone and not feeling like they don’t look sexy or that they are posing wrong etc etc. Every woman who steps int my boudoir sessions is BEAUTIFUL.
Talking of posing. Even though I pose my clients every single day. Being in front of that camera - with the nerves taking over. I forget the lot…
Every single pose, position, facial expression and idea was g o n e.
Thankfully prior to this shoot I have always guided my clients through every single pose and position and given extra help to get into the super tricky poses.
However I never knew how important it was to demonstrate them all, as when being put on the spot and having those nerve take over, I did forget it all!
However…
After about 15 minutes of shooting with Caitlin, I got into it! Was finally remembering poses again! I put lots of effort into it, bending my body more, I EVEN chucked my hair up into a pony tail as I was feeling more confident on showing my face!
I was amazed how easily I eased into it. The tunes were blaring and we were laughing so much.
I am so glad I experienced this and had my friend there to give that helping hand. It gave me a huge insight on how important guiding all the girlies that come to my boudoir sessions really is.
And most importantly if I felt sexy, confident and empowered after seeing the results. So will you x
